Psalm 101:2b - “I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.”

When I was a teenager, just a few years ago, I could put up a pretty good front of “perfect Christian.” For a matter of fact, right now, as a youth pastor, I can fake Christianity pretty well. I have been saved and in church long enough to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk and seem, on the outside, to have a great “walk with God.” But I propose to you, that the greatness of a Christian is not shown at church or on a crazy teen activity with the youth pastor; but is truly shown at home!

Here we see in verse two, of Psalm 101, that David is stating that he is going to walk with a perfect heart at home. He is literally meaning a heart that is going to be complete and not lacking; one that is going to be consistent, not content one minute and covetous the next. David is saying here that he is going to be the same at home with his family as he is away from home where everyone is watching!

Matthew 12:34 says “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” That which you have been thinking about, and dwelling upon in your heart will eventually come out! Guaranteed! So, let me ask you young person, how is your speech at home with mom or dad? How about with your brothers and sisters?  I pray that you will determine this week that, regardless of what everyone else is doing, that you will say as did David, “I will walk within my house with a perfect heart!”
