Proving Your Love for the Lord

Deuteronomy 13:3b-4 says "...for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and your soul. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him." Here in these verses we see that the Lord "proveth" our love for him in six ways. Lets look at verse four again. This verse spells out very plainly how we can prove to the Lord that we truly do love him with all of our heart and soul. We can show the Lord that we love him by:
- Walking with Him - We must daily make the choice to walk consistently with our Savior in DAILY Bible reading and prayer!
- Fearing Him - We must have a Biblical view of God and a healthy respect for Him!
- Keeping His commandments - We must obey the direct commands of the Bible!
- Obeying His voice - We must listen and obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Sensitivity to the Lord's leading is crutialto our Christian walk!
- Serving Him - We must serve the Lord with pure motives and methods! This sounds very simple, but so many forfeit the blessings of serving the Lord by never serving others!
- Cleaving unto Him - This word has the idea of gluing one thing to another. We must cleave unto the Lord; always conscience of someone or something coming between our relationship with the Lord!
Do you love the Lord? If so, I challenge you this week to follow these principles found in His Word and prove your love for Him!
